What Should You Know About IgA Nephropathy?

IgA nephropathy, which is also known by the name Berger’s disease is a kidney-related disease triggered by the antibody’s build-up in the kidneys. It is immunoglobulin primarily responsible for the inflammation in the parts of the renal and the result is the decreased ability of the kidneys to filter the waste from the blood.

It usually takes years for IgA nephropathy to progress but the effects and course may vary from person to person. For some, it is common to have blood in the urine without much of the problems while some achieve complete remissions or others may experience end-stage renal failure.

People with IgA nephropathy receive care from a nephrologist and get themselves treated with IgA nephropathy treatment in Ayurveda. The treatment ensures that your blood pressure remains stable and rising cholesterol does not promote the disease.

How Does IgA Nephropathy Affect The Kidneys?

IgA nephropathy affects the kidneys by damaging the glomeruli. These sets of looping blood vessels in nephrons filter the waste and other impurities from the blood. IgA buildup in the glomeruli destroys the function of the glomeruli to separate waste and allows the kidneys to leak blood and protein into the blood. Over time, if a cure for IgA nephropathy in Ayurveda is not taken out, likely nephrons will also start to damage along with in the process.

Such awful damage to the parts of the kidneys is then characterized by end-stage renal failure which is life-threatening and difficult to reverse. Work with your nephrologist and determine the right treatment care for you. When the kidney fails completely, your nephrologist may recommend either treatment, dialysis, and transplant. So, it is recommended that IgA nephropathy should be treated well in advance when you first start to have signs and complications.

What are the signs linked to IgA nephropathy?

Initially, when IgA nephropathy develops, it is hard to spot even the most common signs so that the disease can be treated. In most cases, IgA nephropathy remains unnoticed for years or decades and people get to know about it during routine screening. Sometimes blood and protein in the urine is only visible through a microscope.

Other frequently seen signs and symptoms include:

  • Dark or tea-colored urine due to the red blood cells in the urine

  • Visible blood in the urine, especially after an upper respiratory or other infection

  • Foamy urine from protein leaking into your urine (proteinuria)

  • Pain in one or both sides of your back below your ribs

  • Swelling (edema) in your hands and feet

  • High blood pressure

When to see a doctor

Schedule your appointment with a doctor and take IgA nephropathy treatment in Ayurveda if you are experiencing blood in the urine. Perhaps there could be a number of reasons for urinary bleeding and it is important to consult your doctor for the same. Besides, swelling in the hands also indicates some conditions linked to the kidneys.

What are some common causes of IgA nephropathy?

Scientists believe that IgA nephropathy is an autoimmune system disorder in which a faulty immune system puts the kidneys at risk.

Individuals with IgA nephropathy have an increased level of IgA that contains less of a special sugar. This deficiency of galactose is not recognized by the other antibodies in the blood and so they start to attach themselves to this galactose-deficient IgA and create lumps. The problem arises when some of the lumps twig to the nephrons and inflames glomeruli.

IgA nephropathy is also linked to hereditary patterns. It is also related to respiratory or intestinal infections and the immune system response to these infections.
